CHA AM – A CENTRAL POINT FOR YOUR EXCURSIONS

One of the many benefits of Cha Am is its central location; this allows you to experience many of the entertaining excursions without having to waste long stretches of time on traveling. For example, you’ll find two national parks nearby. First, there’s Khao Sam Roi Yod National Park. From here, just a short boat ride will take you to a beautifully isolated beach, where you’ll be able to access the well-known Phraya Nahkon Cave, one of the few locations long-admired by Thailand’s kings. Second, there’s the National Park of Kaeng Krachan (one of the largest parks in all of Thailand!) with the majestically inviting Pala-U Waterfall, which has 16 cascading levels of water and is enveloped by the surrounding forest, itself populated by gibbons and many rare bird species. Also worth mentioning is Karen Village, which is near the Pala-U Waterfall. This village was founded nearly 200 years ago by Burmese people and has plenty of culture and history available for its visitors.

PHRA NAKHON KHIRI – “HILL OF THE HOLY CITY”

The historical landmark of Phra Nakhon Khiri is built on three hills that are nearly 100 meters tall. This park oversees the nearby city of Petchaburi – the views are elevated and extraordinary. Here you’ll find a summer palace built in the 1860s by King Rama IV on one of the hills. The captivating interior of the palace provides you with historical insight as to how the members of the royal family lived at the time. Then, the second hill features a large chedi (Buddhist stupa) by the name of Phra That Chom Phet that is believed to contain relics of the Buddha. Lastly, the third hill is home to the Way Phra Kaeo, a royal temple built on the model of the famous temple by the same name in Bangkok. “The Mountain with the Palace,” or Khao Wang, as it’s known locally, is a part of the Thai National Museum and is just one of the many fascinating sites available.
