Our Khlong Saen Saep tour commences with a morning pick up at your hotel in Bangkok, after which we’ll will promptly drive you over to the Wat Saket Buddhist Temple, where you’ll be able to witness monks performing their everyday morning rituals: a truly enrichening experience. The tour advances with us going up a winding flight of stairs to get to the Golden Mount Temple to enjoy astonishing views of Rattanakosin Island while taking in the myriad of tone bells that line the path on the way up.
Next, we’ll guide you through a relaxing walk to Soi Ban Batra, one of the last remaining places that make Batra in Thailand, or traditional Buddhist alms bowls. From here we’ll board one of the local shuttle boats to ride down the canal known as Khlong Saen Saep to the famous Jim Thompson House. This beautiful art museum/collection once belonged to the founder of the Thai Silk Company, Jim Thompson. While we’re here, your guide will lead you through the house’s remarkable art collection, instructing you on some of their most important aspects while also allowing you to gaze at any and all of the Asian antiques that impress you most.
Lastly, we’ll make it across the canal again, but over to Baan Krua, a Cham Muslim society that provided Jim Thompson’s company with their legendary silk. Which means that while you’re there, you’ll be witness to some of the initial weaving families, learning of their rich culture and customs. Before departing, you’ll have the chance to get a sense for what their everyday lives are like, stopping by their houses, watching the artisans work at their craft, and shopping for one-of-a-kind Thai souvenirs at their local silk shops.
Our tour will conclude with a comfortable drive back to your hotel in Bangkok. If you’d like to have this enrichening experience during your time in Thailand, book with us today!
