LUNCH / DINNER
Our tour beings with an invigorating trip via longtail boat through Bangkok’s canals, where you’ll be able to experience and absorb various aspects of local Thai life and how it compares with Bangkok.
The Majestic Wat Arun (or “Temple of Dawn”) is our first stop, located at the first royal palace in Bangkok. After exploring this, we’ll move to the jewel of the city: the Royal Palace. Built at the inception of Bangkok (1782-1784), this palace was made for the first king of the Chakri dynasty and was his personal residence.
Then, the Grand Palace Royal Chapel, which contains the highly-revered Emerald Buddha statue in Bangkok, also considered the religious symbol of the country’s security. Next, you’ll visit Wat Po, the enormous reclining Buddha.
At this point in the day, we’ll give you what you want most — a generous, filling, and delicious Thai lunch. You’ll be given just that, and alongside the Chao Phraya, AKA the “the River of Kings.”
This is also where we’ll find the art-filled Jim Thomson House after lunch. This House is now an attraction — an art-filled museum containing an immense collection of Asian art from the World War II era — that you just can’t miss when in Bangkok.
BREAKFAST / LUNCH / DINNER
After a hearty breakfast at your hotel, your second day with us will begin at approximately 1:30 pm, when the MEKHALA cruise departs and traverses up the Chao Phraya River. Along the way, expect to not only see rural life along the river but also sites from your previous day, including the incredible Grand Palace and Temple of Dawn.
You’ll arrive at Pathum Thani in the afternoon, where you’ll be able to visit a fresh food market where locals will regularly shop for fresh produce, Thai sweets, and other remarkable foods.
As the day closes out and the sun sets, the MEKHALA will stop at Way Kai Tia, a Buddhist temple that can be found in a peaceful rural village. Here you’ll be treated to a spectacular candlelit Thai dinner served on the deck. You’ll spend the rest of your night aboard the boat in your comfortable, air-conditioned cabin.
BREAKFAST / LUNCH
The day begins with us cruising early in the morning to the isolated village of Baan Saladang, an old community that migrated from Burma in the 19th century and persists to this day.
As you'll quickly see, the villagers who live here have managed to maintain their traditional customs as well as the nature that surrounds them. Not only that, but you'll also notice a beautiful assortment of cared for Thai houses that are the foundation of this alluring village. This is where you'll be having your breakfast!
Afterwards, we’ll leave at 09:30 am from the Bang Pa pier in Summer Palace and transport you to the amazing Wat Chai Wattanaram before making it to Kanchanaburi. To end the day, you’ll be taken to explore the Bridge over the River Kwai before being transported to your hotel.
Today you enjoy a full free day at leisure to enjoy your hotel and all of its facilities.
BREAKFAST / LUNCH
Our fourth and final morning, we’ll transfer you back to Bangkok so that you can experience the Damnoen Saduak Floating market — here you’ll take a long-tail boat ride on the canals that course around the floating market and witness how Thai people persist and thrive within the area. Bartering, selling, and buying is all done by boat here (or at the very least at the bank of the river). And what is there to buy? A delicious collection of fresh vegetables, fruits, and spices, among other various goods and crafts.
Just before driving you back to your hotel in Bangkok, we’ll stop for one more mouth-watering Thai lunch along the way.
